Abstract:
This study aims to investigate the extent to which academic leaders at the University of Jordan practice sustainable leadership according to the Cambridge University model and its relationship to the quality of work life of faculty members. A descriptive correlational survey design was employed, with a sample of 195 participants chosen through a self-selection bias sampling approach. Participants responded to the study tool, which consisted of two dimensions: the Sustainable Leadership dimension (37 items), based on the University of Cambridge Sustainable Leadership Scale, and the Quality of Work Life dimension (24 items), based on the second edition of the Easton & Van Laar Scale [2018]. The results of the study showed that the degree of academic leaders' practice of sustainable leadership was moderate, and the other areas were ranked in descending order as follows: the leadership context, the leadership characteristics, and finally the leadership behaviors, all of which had a moderate degree of practice. The results also revealed that the degree of quality of work life of faculty members was also moderate, and there was a strong positive relationship between the different areas. The study recommended that the University of Jordan should enhance sustainable leadership traits and elevate the quality of work life for its faculty members.
